The Funky Seshwa is a vinyl-centric funk party based in Brooklyn/NYC which is open to all walks of life. Their message preaches positivity through the music. They're throwing down in the Bad Room on 04.26 with Hello Sailor's Renata Do Valle. Born in Brazil, now residing in New York, Do Valle has made it her mission to marry the sounds, aesthetics, and flavors of her South American roots with those of her adopted home, exploring disco, funk, jazz, afrobeat and everything between.
She will be joined by The Funky Seshwa resident Willy Soul, playing b2b with Samir Hall. Hall has been in the NYC scene running his record label, Clairaudience, since 1997, releasing amazing music from cats like Ron Trent and Anthony Nicholson to name a couple. He has amazing taste in music and has a library of tracks that will enlighten peoples musical pallets. Trumpeter Aquiles Navarro is going to add some live flavor to the party, accompanying their soulful DJ set. Aquiles is a member of Irreversible Entanglements, who were selected by Giles Peterson in his Jazz Highlights for 2017.
