Take Two is an immersive deep-listening night consisting of two elements: an uninterrupted, high-quality playback of a seminal jazz album, followed by a modern-day reinterpretation by New York City’s finest musicians.
Our fourteenth edition will feature American trumpeter Don Cherry's 1975 meditative, free, and ecstatic self-titled album known as Brown Rice.
The live reinterpretation will be led by Tcheser Holmes, drummer of the critically-acclaimed punk jazz ensemble Irreversible Entanglements, joined by his bandmates and special guests:
> Luke Stewart // bass
> Aquiles Navarro // trumpet, electronics
> Tomin Perea-Chamblee // woodwinds, electronics
> Tcheser Holmes // drums, percussion
> Artist Francis // percussion
Take Two will be held in a private loft in Bushwick featuring vintage Klipsch loudspeakers and comfortable seating arrangements.
Due to limited capacity, $25 advance tickets will be sold on a first-come-first-serve basis. RSVP below to receive payment details and location info.
As always, Take Two is based on not-for-profit principles with ticket sales going directly to the musicians involved.
